New law provides clarity on the use of prior salary history
Assembly Bill 2282 clarifies existing California law intended to prohibit the use of prior salary history in negotiations between employers and applicants for employment.

Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 2282 on July 18 to provide clarity on several provisions of existing California law intended to prohibit the use of prior salary history in negotiations between employers and applicants for employment. The bill, which amended Labor Code Sections 432.3 and 1197.5, is effective on Jan. 1, 2019.
