Huntington Beach city attorney accused of age discrimination

The city attorney, elected in 20014, said the plaintiffs were used to an office atmosphere of settling cases and low performance.

A federal lawsuit has been filed against Huntington Beach City Attorney Michael Gates alleging he discriminated against members of the office because of their age, leading one to resign and another to be wrongfully demoted.

Gates, elected in 2014, countered that the plaintiffs were used to an office atmosphere of settling cases and low performance, which he campaigned against, and they did not keep up with his "take-it-to-trial" app...
