LOS ANGELES -- Defense counsel slogged through an objection-riddled examination of an FBI agent who helped bring criminal charges against two Southern California men accused of illegally exporting computer chips with military applications to China.

Tuesday's testimony boiled over when defense counsel James W. Spertus of Spertus Landes & Umhofer LLP objected to a witness' use of a Chinese interpreter.
