San Francisco DA to redact racial descriptors from case information

District Attorney George Gascón said his office would begin using an algorithm on July 1 to aid in the process of deciding whether or not to file charges against an individual.

San Francisco prosecutors will begin using artificial intelligence to redact racial descriptors from case information in hopes of eliminating implicit bias from the charging phase, they announced Wednesday.
