ICE can’t use document search to arrest immigrant workers, court rules
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found the government violated an immigrant worker's rights in a mass roundup executed in Los Angeles 11 years ago, effectively concluding his deportation proceedings.




Immigration officers cannot use a warrant for documents from a company as a pretext to arrest employees who have no legal permission to be in the country, a U.S. appeals court panel ruled.
In doing so, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals blocked the deportation of a Mexican arrested in a 2008 workplace raid of a printer cartridge manufacturer in Los Angeles.
