Budget includes funds for 25 more judges

Gov. Gavin Newsom may get to have an early impact on the judiciary, thanks to the state budget, which includes long delayed money for 25 new superior court judge positions.

SACRAMENTO — Gov. Gavin Newsom may get to have an early impact on the judiciary, thanks to the state budget.

That’s because the courts budget includes long delayed money for 25 new superior court judge positions. Not only would Newsom have the option of appointing these judges, he gets to decide what counties would receive them.
