Computer chips allegedly sent to China turn up in LA courtroom

Computer chips the government accused a former UCLA professor of illegally exporting to China were recovered by defense counsel and present in a federal courtroom last week, raising questions as to why FBI agents were unable to find them in a 2018 raid of the professor’s house.

LOS ANGELES -- Computer chips the government accused a former UCLA professor of illegally exporting to China were recovered by defense counsel and present in a federal courtroom last week, raising questions as to why FBI agents were unable to find them in a 2018 raid of the professor's house.

Former UCLA adjunct professor Yi-Chi Shih is accused of sending computer chips with military applications known as "wafers," to China.
