Despite the trend toward harmonization of patent laws throughout the world, many differences still exist between countries. This is particularly true when comparing the United States and China. There are differences in the types of patents available in each country, as well as the challenges of enforcing patents in local courts. This article will focus on the former issue, including the use -- and sometimes abuse -- of various types of patents in China.
