Nonlawyer investment in law firms could provide broad benefits, supporters say

Allowing nonlawyers to invest in law firms and other legal services providers would provide California’s legal industry with a much-needed infusion of new capital and business ideas, according to supporters of such regulatory changes.

Their comments come as a State Bar task force focused on increasing access to justice is considering measures that would permit non-attorneys to own or have financial interests in legal entities.
