Governor signs law extending periods to file child sex abuse civil claims

Victims of childhood sexual assault will have longer to file civil suits, under a bill Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Sunday. AB 218 extends the statute of limitations from three to five years, extends some claims until the victim turns 40 and revives many older claims for three years.
