California lawmakers have once again expanded lactation accommodation rights for employees. On Oct. 10, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 142, which takes effect on Jan. 1, 2020, and amends the California Labor Code to expand lactation space requirements for employees, as well as employee rights to lactation accommodation breaks. The new law also requires employers to have detailed lactation accommodation policies and response procedures.
