Putative class claims insurer won’t cover mental illness treatment

Plaintiffs claims United Health Care Services is in violation of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act.

A proposed class action was filed against United Healthcare Services Inc. Thursday, claiming the insurance provider it denied coverage for behavioral therapies.

The parent of a minor with autism claimed the company is illegally refusing to pay for applied behavioral analysis treatment, according to the complaint.
