Prosecutors removed from murder trial over jail informant irregularities are retiring

Two prosecutors accused by defense attorneys of improperly using a jail informant to ensure a death penalty for confessed mass murderer Scott Dekraai will leave the Orange County district attorney’s office after Dec. 7, they confirmed Friday.

In separate interviews, Assistant District Attorney Dan Wagner and Senior Deputy District Attorney Scott Simmons clarified they were retiring, not resigning, from their posts.
