Jury finds landlord breached lease with cannabis company, awards no damages

“This victory shows that the cannabis industry can bring and win cases before California courts and juries, just like any other serious business,” said Jonathan A. Shapiro of Baker Botts LLP.

A cannabis company's win over its landlord in Monterey County shows the industry can win favor with juries, said Jonathan A. Shapiro of Baker Botts LLP, who won the case for Grupo Flor LLC.

The jury did not award damages, however, in its Friday ruling that a landlord harmed the cannabis company by terminating a lease agreement.
