Suit claims Contra Costa DA failed to promote female prosecutors

The lawsuit alleges DA Diana Becton, who was appointed interim DA in 2017, perpetuated age and gender discrimination by failing to promote and assign supervisory roles to female prosecutors while offering those advancements to less qualified and less experienced men.

A discrimination lawsuit filed by four female prosecutors against the Contra Costa County District Attorney's office illustrates only a fraction of the issues impacting the office's female employees, according to the plaintiffs' attorney, who said she spoke with at least three other women alleging discrimination by DA Diana Becton.
