Class action may be first of many filed over event cancellations

Planners for the Lightning in a Bottle music festival, held annually in or around May, were forced like many to cancel due to the coronavirus crisis, but according to the complaint, relied on deceptive contract language that contradicted state consumer protection laws to justify its no refund policy.

A class action filed by ticketholders for the recently canceled Lightning in a Bottle music festival could be the first of many COVID-19 cancellation-related lawsuits.

Plaintiff Michael Rutledge filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court on behalf of a putative class of ticketholders for the event, who were denied a refund following the event's cancellation last week by defendant Do Lab Inc.
