The way the coronavirus took hold on cruise ships early in the pandemic has maritime lawyers looking at creative applications of case law to extend maritime jurisdiction to disputes ashore. Several of these are likely to be decided as cases of first impression and will have broader implications for the cruise and shipping industries.
