Bar moves closer to allowing nonlawyers, artificial intelligence to provide legal services

The proposal to relax standards on who can deliver legal services, was previously delayed in March after a flood of comment, most of it criticism from attorneys, while some praise came from and access-to-justice groups.

Despite widespread opposition from California attorneys, nonlawyers could soon be allowed ownership in law firms as the State Bar explores new ways of delivering legal services.
