U.S. High Court will hear Prop 12 dispute over out of state pork
In its petition for writ of certiorari, the National Pork Producers Council cited a statistic that California imports more than 99% of its pork, arguing the California law effectively only regulates out-of-state commerce and pushes out-of-state farmers to undergo massive and costly alterations to their existing systems and business practices.




The U.S. Supreme Court announced Monday it would review the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision to uphold Proposition 12, the 2018 ballot measure that prohibits the sale of pork if the meat is produced from pigs in confined quarters.
