Walmart must stop selling shoes that look like Vans

Vans alleged Walmart ripped off “virtually all” of its sneaker design elements to produced shoes that cost less than $20 and are “cheap, poorly made, and confusingly similar” to $60 Vans.

Walmart will have to temporarily stop selling its own brand of shoes that allegedly copy the classic Vans designs at its stores, a federal judge has ruled.

U.S. Judge David O. Carter agreed with shoe maker Vans in an opinion published on Friday that “Walmart is selling shoes ... with marks confusingly similar to two of Vans’ registered trademarks — the Side Stripe Mark and the Stitching Mark.” Carter said Vans was likely to win and would b...
