After 10 years, Sonoma County voters get to choose 2 judges

In one contest, Court Commissioner Laura Passaglia McCarthy and attorney John F. LemMon are the candidates. In the other, attorneys Joseph R. Passalacqua and Oscar A. Pardo are facing off.

Two rare, competitive, open seats on Sonoma County's Superior Court will give voters their first chance in more than a decade to choose new judges.

The vacant seats coincide with the June 7 primary election, allowing the electorate a say in who gets a robe. Vacancies that arise outside of a general election period are slated to be filled by Gov. Gavin Newsom, which is the usual path to a judgeship. Only 14 of California's 58 counties have ...
