Walmart sued over claims of tainted spices
The plaintiffs cited a November 2021 article by Consumer Reports that stated Walmart’s “Great Value” herbs and spices “had high enough levels of arsenic, lead, and cadmium combined, on average, to pose a health concern for children when regularly consumed in typical serving sizes.”




Customers who bought herbs and spices from Walmart Inc. sued the company for more than $5 million, saying it failed to disclose the presence of arsenic, lead and cadmium in the products.
Randy Hargrove, a spokesman for Walmart, said over the phone Monday, “We will respond as appropriate with the court and intend to defend the company against these meritless allegations.”
