2 suits say Cal State system allows race, sex discrimination
The lawsuits follow a May 2022 report by the California State University’s employee union that found a substantial pay gap between women and men and between Black and Hispanic faculty compared to white faculty. The report was partially based on research by Mercer Consulting, hired by the state in 2021 to review the university’s compensation of faculty.




Two lawsuits allege that the California State University system has allowed racial and gender-based discrimination to occur, including alleged wage disparities and harassment, claiming they violate the state’s California Fair Employment and Housing Act.
