Jury awards $2.1M to son of homeless man shot by L.A. police

Although the Los Angeles Police Commission found the shooting to be within department policy, the jury determined after five days of trial that Sergeant Colin Langsdale used excessive and unreasonable force and was negligent.

A federal jury in Los Angeles unanimously awarded $2.1 million to the family of a homeless man who was shot and killed by a Los Angeles Police sergeant in 2020.
