Chimney inspector sues over exploding lithium-ion battery

The lawsuit contends that the Eagtac lithium-ion flashlight battery was defectively designed and manufactured, and that the defendants failed to warn consumers that the battery can produce an external short circuit when it encounters metallic objects like coins or car keys, causing the cell to overheat and explode.

A Los Angeles chimney inspector suffered serious burns after a lithium-ion flashlight battery burst into flames in his pants pocket, a lawsuit against Walmart and the manufacturer alleges.
