Artificial intelligence likely to upend law practice

The technology provides a host of benefits to lawyers and law firms, and current uses include conducting legal research and contract review, finding relevant documents in the discovery process and predicting legal outcomes. AI is also starting to be used for more complex mental tasks, such as drafting briefs and contracts.

As artificial intelligence technology seeps into more industries, the legal profession is no exception. While fears about lawyers being replaced by robots are unfounded -- at least for now -- AI will likely transform the practice of law in significant ways in the coming years.
