Most of city's demurrer of builder's remedy suit overruled

"While multiple factors may have contributed to the city's lackluster track record on housing, one primary reason is the city's decision-makers' open endorsement of anti-growth, status-quoist policies to preserve the 'quiet and charming' character of the city," Holland & Knight LLP partner Ryan M. Leaderman wrote.

The Los Angeles judge presiding over a "builder's remedy" lawsuit against La Cañada Flintridge overruled nearly all of the city's demurrer and denied motions to strike various statements and prayers from the complaint, paving the way to trial.
