2023 saw biggest drop in patent cases in a decade, study finds

The recent decrease in filings is likely caused, at least in part, by the drop in cases filed by high-volume plaintiffs, according to analytics service Lex Machina.

Patent litigation in California continued to steadily decline as Texas and Delaware courts saw the most filings in 2023, according to a new report by legal analytics service Lex Machina. The past year had the lowest number of patent cases filed in the federal district courts over the past decade.
