Restaurant has valid COVID insurance claim, panel rules

Attorneys for Brooklyn Restaurant's Inc., the company behind Harry's Coffee Shop, successfully argued that the cleaning and sanitization efforts taken by the restaurant in order to reopen during the pandemic constituted a direct physical loss and triggered a certain provision of its insurance policy with Sentinel.

A California appellate court handed down a significant ruling for businesses recovering from the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic; finding that a La Jolla restaurant could pursue its claims for COVID related damages against its insurer, Sentinel Insurance Company Ltd.
