Shasta County casino project dispute moves to federal court

The complaint claimed that the deal with the Redding Rancheria tribe will deliver a fraction of the revenue earned by other counties in similar casino deals.

A dispute over a huge casino project in Shasta County has spilled into federal court.

The complaint, filed in February in Shasta County Superior Court, claims the county board of supervisors reached a financially irresponsible agreement with the Redding Rancheria tribe to move its casino to a site on the Sacramento River. The county moved to bring the case into federal court, due in part to the overlap with federal gaming law.
