US judge holds off on sanctions for LA's noncompliance with homeless settlement
The L.A. Alliance for Human Rights had requested a penalty of $6.4 million for noncompliance, but both sides stipulated and resolved the issue, they said. The judge said the money could be better spent providing shelter for homeless people.
LOS ANGELES -- A federal judge on Friday indicated he would not be sanctioning the City of Los Angeles for unfulfilled milestones in clearing homeless encampments pursuant to the settlement of a lawsuit by a group of skid row residents and businesses, along with advocates for the homeless.
