Senate approves legislation for permanent federal judgeships
The Federal Judiciary Stabilization Act was introduced by U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, both members of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Representatives Ted Lieu, D-Calif., and Lance Gooden, R-Texas, members of the House Judiciary Committee, were tasked with introducing a bipartisan companion bill in the House.
The U.S. Senate approved on Saturday legislation which would convert all 10 temporary federal judgeships in the nation, including one in the Central District of California, into permanent positions. The bill is now headed to the U.S. House of Representatives for approval.
