Jury gets 9-year-old whistleblower case by fired state employee

Attorneys for plaintiff Tamara Evans claimed she was fired for uncovering financial improprieties at the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. The state claims the problems were uncovered by others and that Evans was fired for her own misuse of state funds.

A nearly-decade old state employee case brought by a self-described whistleblower went to a Sacramento County jury on Wednesday.

Attorneys for plaintiff Tamara Evans claimed she was fired for uncovering financial improprieties at the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. The state claims the problems were uncovered by others and that Evans was fired after an unfortunate incident at a car rental counter exposed her own misuse of state funds.
