San Francisco tells high court EPA sewer standards are unclear

The issue revolves around language intended to prevent wastewater from the sewer system from flowing into the Pacific Ocean during storms, and what permits issued by the EPA require.

The city and county of San Francisco, joined by unusual allies among business groups, attacked the Environmental Protection Agency's enforcement of the Clean Water Act during oral arguments before a divided U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday.
