X Corp sues to block state law against election 'misinformation'

"It has the effect of impermissibly replacing the judgments of covered platforms about what content belongs on their platforms with the judgments of the State," wrote William R. Warne, representing X as a partner with Downey Brand LLP in Sacramento.

X Corp. has sued to block a new California law designed to fight election misinformation. The case is one of several challenging the state's effort to curb the proliferation of so-called deepfakes.
