AG Bonta issues guidance on enforcing Proposition 36

Law enforcement agencies throughout the state say they are eager to implement the tough-on-crime measure passed by nearly 68% of voters last month.

Attorney General Rob Bonta issued guidance to law enforcement on Friday about how they should go about implementing Proposition 36. The bulletin emphasized the relative freedom the new law grants prosecutors in dealing with repeat offenders.
