Tech industry appeals California social media restrictions for minors
A technology trade group has urged the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to halt parts of a California law restricting social media notifications and personalized feeds for minors. The law, set to take effect next month, has sparked a legal battle over First Amendment rights and child protection.




Until their appeal is considered, a technology trade group is asking the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to enjoin the state from enforcing part of a new law that would bar social media companies from sending unsolicited notifications to minors without the consent of a parent or guardian.
But the state attorney general's office argued last week that an injunction would not serve the public interest.
