Adelanto ICE center to reopen amid calls for permanent closure
The ACLU pushes for the closure of Adelanto ICE center after a judge's ruling to reopen it following the 2020 COVID shutdown. The facility will resume intake under a settlement cap at 475 detainees. It can hold 1,490.




An attorney representing a class of immigrants previously detained at one of California's largest ICE detention centers said that her co-counsel is urging the government to permanently shut down the facility. This push comes in the wake of a federal judge's ruling, which allowed the center to reopen for the first time in nearly five years.
