LA, opponents want more money for disputes in encampment settlement

Los Angeles opposes $1.8 million in legal fees sought by advocacy groups after a federal judge found the city failed to meet obligations in a homelessness settlement agreement. Meanwhile the city is seeking to increase the budget to pay its outside counsel in the case.

In an ongoing legal battle over Los Angeles' homelessness crisis, the city is strongly opposing millions of dollars in attorney fees sought by the LA Alliance for Human Rights and others.

The matter stems from a ruling in June that found the city breached parts of a 2022 encampment reduction agreement and missed planning and reporting duties.
