Bank of the West first known as Farmers National Gold Bank and then First National Bank of San Jose has reinvented itself many times since its founding in 1874. In the 1990s, the bank embarked on a series of acquisitions that catapulted the bank from 40 Bay Area locations to more than 700 locations in 19 Western and Midwestern states as of this year.
