Swan specializes in intellectual property counseling and litigation focused on enforcement and defense of patent rights, as well as Hatch Waxman litigation. "It's a unique practice in that I can use my litigation experience to help guide companies with their intellectual property development and make it stronger as they go through the phases of development of their companies," Swan said.
As a former law clerk to Chief Judge Randall R. Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and Judge Ronald Whyte of the Northern District of California, her litigation practice also includes appellate work.
Swan's and Levine's litigation work together began when she was based in Finnegan's Washington D.C. office and continued after Swan relocated to the Bay Area.
"We just have a really strong working relationship. I think actually being on two different coasts now we have found to be an advantage because we can take advantage of the time difference," she said. "We have really long working days now because I have three extra hours to work."
