Law-Firm Mergers Decline Slightly in First Half of 2006

Law-firm mergers nationwide were down slightly in the first half of 2006, according to new data from Hildebrandt International.

      The first half of the year had three fewer mergers than the same period in 2005.
      California and New York each had six mergers, more than any state. The average size of the acquired firm in New York was 10 lawyers, while in California it was 23.
