Overture Buys Up AltaVista, Fast Search
Pasadena-based Overture Services Inc. has inked a pair of deals to broaden its Internet search capabilities. On Feb. 25, Overture agreed to purchase the Web search unit of Norway's Fast Search & Transfer for up to $100 million in cash. A week earlier, it announced a deal to buy Palo Alto-based search company AltaVista Co. for $140 million in cash and stock.
