Colorado Court Nixes DA's Defense-Attorney Ruse

DENVER - On July 8, 1998, Jefferson County lawyer Mark Pautler found himself at the scene of a gruesome crime. Three women had had their skulls beaten with a wood-splitting maul and lay dead in a Lakewood apartment. A fourth woman, after being forced to witness one of the beatings, had been raped at gunpoint.
