CADENCE DESIGN WILL BUY SIMPLEX FOR $300 MILLION

Cadence Design Systems Inc. has agreed to acquire Simplex Solutions Inc. The stock deal, announced April 24, is worth $300 million. San Jose's Cadence produces and sells electronic design automation software, which is used to design semiconductors, computer systems, networking equipment and electronic systems used in mobile telephones.
