Playing it Cool

Flash back to last September. After a very jittery run, the stock market seemed to stabilize. Sure the "Internet bubble" had burst and Web sites such as dotcomfailures.com became all the rage, but across-the-board profit warnings had yet to become part of the daily news menu. Could even more-prosperous times be ahead?
