Court Will Be More Strict on Late Filing in Death Cases
SAN FRANCISCO - The California Supreme Court will be keeping a closer eye on attorneys who miss filing deadlines in death penalty cases. The court announced Wednesday that, starting in October, both defense attorneys and prosecutors handling capital appeals must provide detailed explanations whenever they ask for extensions of time to file briefs.
