Opinions Support Embattled Council President

LOS ANGELES - Two important city opinions confirm the unassailable power of the City Council president to designate committee assignments. The opinions issued late Friday by City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo and a city-county panel came as victories for embattled City Council President Alex Padilla, who was criticized last week for excluding African-American council members from important committees. He quickly reconsidered and remedied the omissions.
