City Controller Plans to Cut Spiraling Liability Payments

LOS ANGELES - City Controller Laura Chick likely will unveil a plan today to control spiraling liability payouts in civil and workers' compensation claims. Last year's civil verdicts and settlements against Los Angeles ate up 4.5 percent of the city's budget in the fiscal year that ended June 30.
