Court Curtails Police Liability For a Suicide

SAN FRANCISCO - Over a spirited dissent, a state appeal court on Thursday overturned a nearly $4 million jury verdict against the city of Fremont, saying its police officers had no duty to prevent an emotionally distraught, drunken man from committing suicide.
